"Groo and the Tale of King Sage"

Epic #13, March 1986 ($0.75)
Poem:
"A town not far from Over There-
Was ravaged by diseases rare-
And everyday the doom continued spreading.
Into this land of Death's Domain-
A warrior did one day deign-
To stop and ask for meals and some bedding.
The people called this man a dunce-
And told him he must leave at once...
'For if you stay then you will die for sure-'
He answered with impunity-
That he had an immunity-
And if they liked, he'd share with them the cure.
He said, 'I have this cure to give and all I want's a place to live.
Please answer loud and clear... do not be vague.'
They asked him by what name he slew-
He told them that his name was Groo.
They said, 'We'll take our chances with the Plague."

Moral:
"The man who most obeys the king is the man who gets crowned."
