"The Bankers of Avara"

Epic #32, October 1987 ($1.00)
Poem:
"It may seem rather funny-
For a dolt to have such money-
But the future's looking sunny-
For old Groo.

Yet those accustomary-
Know it's only temporary-
He'll be quite unmonetary-
When he's through.

For Groo and stormy weather-
Have been known to go together-
Like the birds of a common feather-
All in tune.

The chances of him keeping-
All this money by the heaping-
Are the same as mine of leaping-
To the moon.

For money never lingers-
It goes slipping through your fingers-
As both frugal men and swingers-
Know is true.

So when you find some riches-
Just remember gold bewitches-
Soon you'll be back digging ditches-
Just like Groo."

Moral:
"Pretend money always leads to grief."
